ONE Championship Friday Fights 14: Gingsanglek scores US$10,000 bonus for head-kick KO of Chorfah in main event
- ONE’s Friday return to Bangkok, Thailand’s famed Lumpinee Stadium concluded with a stunning second-round KO from Gingsanglek
- 5 other Muay Thai fighters won bonuses at the event, including Kongchai and Gonzalez, who delivered a wild three-round brawl
Gingsanglek Tor Laksong closed out ONE Championship’s latest show in Lumpinee Stadium in style, scoring a highlight-reel knockout win over his fellow Thai Chorfah Tor Sangtiennoi.
The two Muay Thai fighters met at a 132-pound catchweight in the card’s main event. Gingsanglek, 22, ended things in a blink in the second round, felling his foe with a pair of head-kicks in rapid succession, and stunning the crowd inside the famed Bangkok, Thailand arena.
“I feel really good,” he said in his post-fight interview with commentator Mitch Chilson. “This is what I aim for, and I did it.”
Gingsanglek’s stunning knockout win over Chorfah, which marked his first ONE win after a knockout loss to Kongthoranee Sor Sommai in February, was impressive enough to earn a 350,000 baht (US$10,000) bonus from ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
Chatri was in a giving mood throughout the card, handing out extra cheques to five other fighters before the main event. And while bonuses are generally reserved for fighters who win by knockout, four of those bonuses were distributed between two electrifying Muay Thai matchups.
First, 113-pound Thais Chatpichit SorSorToipadriew and Sagaengarm Jitmuangnon both earned bonuses for their thrilling three-round war, which the former won by unanimous decision.
Three fights later, 20-year-old Thai strawweight Kongchai Chanaidonmueang earned a bonus for his thrilling majority-decision defeat of Spain’s Xavier Gonzalez, 21, who also earned a bonus defeat.
