ONE Championship’s Demetrious Johnson fuels speculation with mysterious Henry Cejudo meeting
- ‘Mighty Mouse’ visits fellow former UFC flyweight champion in Arizona, with Cejudo telling fans to ’stay tuned’
- Pair fought twice in the UFC Octagon and have one win apiece, with Johnson set to return to action in ONE in the summer
Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo, who shared the UFC’s Octagon on two occasions, had a mysterious meeting over the weekend, and fans are already speculating as to their reasons.
The two fighters, widely regarded among the best of all time, both shared a snapshot from the reunion at Cejudo’s house in Arizona on Instagram – but neither shed much light on what they were up to.
“Guess who stopped by The Cejudo hacienda today. Stay tuned,” Cejudo wrote in an Instagram post.
Johnson and Cejudo first met in the Octagon in 2016, in the thick of the former’s record-setting 11-fight reign as a the UFC flyweight champion.
Johnson won that first meeting in emphatic fashion, cutting Cejudo down with knees and punches to the body and head en route to a first-round stoppage.
A little over two years later, after Cejudo got back on track with victories over BJJ ace Wilson Reis and current Bellator champ Sergio Pettis, they met again. The second time around, Cejudo evened the score – and swiped the flyweight title – with a razor-close split decision that is still debated today.
The pair never competed in a tiebreaking trilogy fight – something some fans speculated may be the reason behind their meeting in Arizona.
