Bi Nguyen does not plan on leaving any more of her fights to the judges.

The Vietnamese-American is one of the most popular atomweight fighters on the ONE Championship roster, but has struggled with consistency in the organisation. However, several of her losses, including her recent setback against Jenelyn Olsim, have been competitive judges’ decisions she believes could have been scored the other way.

Ahead of her high-stakes clash with China’s Lin Heqin at ONE: Bad Blood in Singapore, she is determined to take control of her destiny by finishing her opponents.

“For me, at this point, I’m done with decisions,” Nguyen (6-7) told Andrew Whitelaw ahead of her fight with Lin (14-3-1). “I’m going to fight smarter and not harder, and I’m going to go in there and take it all. I’m gunning for the finish now.”

Nguyen views Lin, 28, as a tough challenge, but believes she will really be up against herself and the judges when the action begins.

“Honestly, who am I really going against myself here? Let’s be honest, I’m going up against myself – to not get to the judges – and the judges,” she said.

“I think we all see the potential of me being at the top [of the division]. I really need to prove it by taking [opponents] out. I cannot emphasise this enough. It’s a personal thing for me.”
