UFC: Conor McGregor responds to insult from Henry Cejudo, who hits back at Dana White amid title shot stand-off
- Irish MMA superstar does not take too kindly to former flyweight and bantamweight champ invoking his name during argument with UFC president
- ‘The last time I saw, he was retired, and now he’s mad? It doesn’t even make sense. In a different weight class?’ White had said of Cejudo
Irish superstar Conor McGregor did not take too kindly to Henry Cejudo invoking his name, with the former flyweight and bantamweight champion continuing his war of words with UFC president Dana White.
The 34-year-old Cejudo (16-2) has made plenty of noise about coming out of retirement to step in and face 145-pound king Alex Volkanovski, after Max Holloway was forced to withdraw from their April trilogy fight.
Featherweight champ Volkanovski will instead put his belt on the line against “The Korean Zombie” Jung Chan-sung at UFC 273. The apparent snub drew a scathing response from “Triple C” on social media, which was put to White at Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 46 post-event press conference.
“Isn’t that guy retired?” White said The last time I saw, he was retired, and now he’s mad he didn’t get a title shot? It doesn’t even make sense. In a different weight class?”
Cejudo had brought up the case of legendary former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, who was given a middleweight title shot in 2017 after ending his four-year retirement.
