Joe Rogan is confident Jake Paul’s recent knockout win over Tyron Woodley was on the level.

Paul, who first achieved fame as a content creator on YouTube, improved to 5-0 as a professional boxer when he flattened Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, with a sixth-round right hook on December 18 in Tampa, Florida.

The legitimacy of the 24-year-old American’s victory was immediately called into question by suspicious fans on social media. But Rogan, who has been calling fights for over 20 years, believes Paul’s performance came down to skill and power alone.

“All the casuals are thinking it’s fake,” the 54-year-old said on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “They were saying there’s a tell because [Paul] moves his hand [like] he’s saying, ‘Here comes the big right hand. I’m [going to] hit you’.

“He’s been good though. People want to pretend he’s not cause he’s a YouTube guy, but the way he knocked out Tyron Woodley, that is [expletive] skilful. He’s got real power.”

Paul’s December fight with Woodley (19-7-1 MMA, 0-2 boxing) was his second in a row with the 39-year-old former welterweight champion. Paul won their first fight, in August, by controversial split decision.

He was originally expected to fight English boxer and reality television star Tommy Fury – the brother of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury – next, but agreed to a short-notice rematch with Woodley when Fury was sidelined with health issues.
