UFC: Khamzat Chimaev mocks Belal Muhammad for call-out, saying he ‘gave up’ after eye poke
- ‘How you even gonna think to fight me?’ Chimaev tweets – ‘I need 1 minute to take your head’
- Muhammad insists ‘I’m gonna have to put a stop to the ‘hype’ surrounding undefeated Chechen star
Khamzat Chimaev has hit back at Belal Muhammad, insinuating he quit after suffering a brutal eye-poke injury against Leon Edwards this year.
The Palestinian-American (20-3, 1 no contest) criticised the undefeated Chechen-born Swede during fight week ahead of his victory over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson at UFC Vegas 45 – something which clearly didn’t go down well with “Borz”.
“When you got a finger in your eye you gave up, how you even gonna think to fight me? Bulls*** boy,” Chimaev posted on Twitter, adding three laughing emojis for good measure.
Muhammad’s March main event with England’s Edwards was called off in the second round when the Chicago native was left in tears and unable to see out of his left eye following an accidental eye poke.
It appears Chimaev may also have been irked by Muhammad calling him out in a series of interviews after the biggest win of his career, which jettisoned him into the top five of the UFC’s welterweight rankings.
“You number one bulls***, I need one minute to take your head,” Chimaev tweeted directly at Muhammad in response.
