Jon Jones and trouble with the law have gone hand in hand throughout his illustrious MMA career.

On Friday morning, a day after his induction to the 2020 UFC Hall of Fame for his first battle with Sweden‘s Alexander Gustafsson, the former light heavyweight champion was arrested on a charge of misdemeanour battery domestic violence, and injuring or tampering with a vehicle.

A police spokesperson confirmed the news to ESPN. The arrest came at 5.45am at a resort near Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, Hadfield.

“The facts are still developing, we really don‘t know yet the full story so I’m not going to make any comment until I have a chance to talk to Jon and until we see how this plays out,” said Jones’ representative, Richard Schaefer.

Jones – who has been involved in several controversies and lost his title three times as a result of disciplinary action – was in good spirits on Thursday night alongside his family when the Post spoke to him on the red carpet at the Park MGM in Las Vegas.

Coincidentally, the 34-year old American (26-1, one no contest) reflected on a rambunctious time at a nightclub that he and former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre – his fellow Class of 2020 inductee – enjoyed years back.
