UFC 259: Dana White blasts ‘insane’ judges for 10-8 scores in Israel Adesanya’s loss to Jan Blachowicz
- ‘It’s a big problem that needs to be fixed,’ says White after two 49-45 scorecards
- ‘If anyone watches that fight and thinks that, you’re nuts,’ adds the UFC president
UFC president Dana White paid full respect to Jan Blachowicz for retaining his light heavyweight title against Israel Adesanya, but was baffled by some of the judges’ scoring.
In particular, two 49-45 scorecards for Saturday night’s UFC 259 main event at the Apex facility.
“The scoring was insane, these guys were giving out 10-8 rounds like they were [expletive] … there were two rounds in that fight that they gave a 10-8. When I came up in the fight business, a 10-8 was an ass whipping,” White said at Saturday night’s post-event press conference in Las Vegas.
“You didn’t do s*** in that round and got beat down if it was a 10-8. This 10-8 s*** is out of control right now. Hopefully we can get this fixed. They’re gonna screw up a lot of fights if they’re handing out 10-8s like that. There was no 10-8 in that fight.”
UFC analysts Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan, who were working the desk for the pay-per-view broadcast, suggested the fight was tied at two rounds apiece heading into the fifth.
