Speaking on Sportsnet’s Tim & Sid Show, St-Pierre said two years ago that Nurmagomedov and himself were trying to work out a fight, but he said the UFC was not interested in it at the time.

“I’ve never been offered [that fight].” said the 39-year-old St-Pierre. “We tried to make the fight happen, and it fell. The UFC said they had a different plan for Khabib.”

The hosts of the show then played a clip of an interview with UFC president Dana White and another Sportsnet reporter, which was recorded January 14 in which White was asked if the potential super bout was still on.

“If tomorrow night [Khabib] tells me I’ll come back and the only fight I’ll do is Georges St-Pierre, it looks like I got to get to work,” said White, who is currently in Abu Dhabi to kick off a trio of cards on Fight Island starting this weekend.
