UFC: Khabib says Tony Ferguson beef ‘is in the past’ as he warns Justin Gaethje ‘I will never fall’
- Khabib originally says ‘no comment’ after Ferguson’s fifth-round loss to Gaethje at UFC 249
- Lightweight champ then tells Ferguson to keep his ‘head up’ before setting his sights on ‘The Highlight’

Khabib Nurmagomedov has vowed to put his differences with Tony Ferguson behind him after the chances of them ever finally meeting in the Octagon potentially slipped away for good at UFC 249.
Ferguson has been matched up with the Russian on five occasions since 2015 but each time it has been cancelled, the most recent in April because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
“Whatever happened is in the past. Heads up Tony, I hope everything is good with you and your family. When your son [grows] up, he’ll be proud [of] you,” Khabib tweeted.
Nurmagomedov’s tweet of commiseration followed one that simply said “no comment” after Gaethje’s impressive counter-attacking performance against overwhelming favourite Ferguson.
Several fighters and analysts expressed their sympathy for Ferguson, who agreed to take the replacement fight against Gaethje despite having nothing to gain and everything to lose.
