UFC: Paige VanZant takes Instagram dig at Maycee Barber and shuts down talk of fight
- In post touting ‘respect’, VanZant says she’ll fight any flyweight or strawweight – just not Barber
- ‘The Future’ has called out ‘12 Gage’ and threatened to ‘ruin her Instagram career’

Paige VanZant is willing to take on any female UFC flyweight or strawweight – just as long as your name’s not Maycee Barber.
Barber (8-0) has been trying to goad VanZant (8-4) into accepting a fight for months. She called her out on the mic in the Octagon after knocking out Gillian Robertson in the first round at UFC Boston, and said in a post-fight media scrum “I’m going to ruin her Instagram career”.
“The Future” had also taken a swipe at the former Dancing with the Stars runner-up in an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, saying she “doesn’t deserve to be in the position she is” in the UFC.
The comments didn’t appear to go down well with VanZant. She hit back in an Instagram post: “Lesson of the day: RESPECT … One of the first lessons we learn in martial arts is respect.
“I respect those who have dedicated themselves to this profession and given it their everything to achieve greatness through showcasing their skill. I respect every female fighter tagged in this post.
