Hong Kong cycling head coach Herve Dagorne said Ceci Lee Sze-wing had “confirmed her progress” after she won omnium bronze at the UCI Track World Cup in Perth.

Lee, who was third in Friday’s elimination race, was a model of consistency as she captured her second podium finish of the three-day meeting from the blue riband four-discipline omnium event.

Anita Stenberg, a four-time European champion, upgraded her elimination silver to win gold on Sunday. Tsuyaka Uchino, of Japan, who will rival Lee for Asian Track Cycling Championships and Asian Games honours this year, was second.

“It was a tough day for Ceci but she fought well and confirmed her progress in managing the strategy during the race,” Dagorne said.

“It was 34 degrees and about 65 per cent humidity, but even though it was hard for her, she realised it was hard for everybody and she kept going, which is another sign of progress.”

A three-time gold medallist from last year’s National Games, Lee will next target Asian track titles in the Philippines later this month.
