Hong Kong ended the 2026 Asian Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships in Jakarta on Friday with an impressive haul of six gold, six silver and eight bronze medals, with most of the medals picked up in a record-breaking performance in the cadet age group.
In the cadet category, Hong Kong’s young fencers secured at least one gold medal on each day of the competition, delivering their best-ever result in the age group with five gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
That dominance also saw Hong Kong top the cadet standings, finishing ahead of China, who won four gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
In the Men’s Épée Cadet Individual event, Hong Kong completed a podium sweep as Curtis Chui Kai-chit clinched gold ahead of teammates Wong Pak-yiu and Anthony Ho Shing-fung, who claimed silver and bronze respectively.
On the women’s side, Fan Bo-yee, who competed in both cadet and junior groups and reached the quarter-finals in cadet last year, captured the Women’s Foil Cadet gold, while Yu Kit won the Women’s Sabre Cadet event.
Hong Kong also dominated the cadet team competitions, with the men’s and women’s foil teams both taking gold. The men’s sabre, women’s sabre and men’s épée teams also stepped onto the podium with medal finishes.
