City’s pickleball players set to compete against world’s best at Hong Kong Slam in October
Ryan Lam, world No 1 in WPC rankings, views the season-ending event as ‘a valuable experience and real challenge’ in front of a home crowd

The world’s best pickleball players will descend on Hong Kong in October, providing the city’s top paddlers with the opportunity to test themselves against elite-level opposition.
Hong Kong’s pickleball scene has been growing steadily over the years, and home-grown professionals are starting to make a name for themselves.
The city’s best player, Ryan Lam Chun-hei, part of Hong Kong’s first generation of pro pickleball athletes, leads the World Pickleball Championship’s (WPC) 2026 combined rankings.
Jack Wong Hong-kit, a former tennis professional, is currently the city’s highest-ranked player in the PPA Tour standings at No 19, a separate global system from the WPC.
The season-ending Hong Kong Slam, part of the PPA Tour Asia circuit, will take place from October 19 to 25 and offers a US$1.1 million prize purse.
Before reaching Hong Kong, the tour starts in Hanoi in April, with stops in Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Macau and China.
