Proud Hong Kong 4 Trails Ultra Challenge finisher can now ‘do something else with my life’
‘Completely dedicated’ Englishman Scott Pugh says everything came right on the day as he completes the race in less than 60 hours

Scott Pugh said he could now “focus on and do something else with my life” after finally completing the Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge (HK4TUC) last week.
Last Wednesday, at a quarter to 4.00pm, Pugh crossed the finish line in Mui Wo before landing that long-awaited kiss on the iconic green postbox, six years after his second failed attempt to conquer the 298-kilometre non-stop ultra-marathon, which covers Hong Kong’s four major trails – MacLehose, Wilson, Hong Kong and Lantau – and comes with a 14,500-metre elevation.
Stopping the clock at 58 hours and 43 minutes was just good enough for Pugh to qualify as a “finisher”, one who completes the demanding race within 60 hours.
“I have been completely dedicated to this for years,” said Pugh, who regarded his Four Trails venture as a “58-hour meditation session”.
“There was nothing else I could have done to get myself in the right shape, physically and mentally: from strength conditioning to rest and recovery, to the volume of training, elevation training and training on the course.

“I am really proud to be a member of the alumni of people who have finished this challenge.”
