Fiji’s rugby fans joined their players in praising Kai Tak Stadium after flying thousands of miles to enjoy the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens at its new home.

On her eighth annual rugby trip to the city, Fijian Luse Vula said she was amazed by the new sports complex.

“This is an excellent, top-notch stadium, especially with the closed roof – I love it,” she said. “It’s way better than the previous one; this is much better, 110 per cent.

“It will be nice to see how it looks when [the roof] is open, but it’s too hot, better have it closed and leave the air conditioning on throughout – we love it!”

Alongside Vula was Taina Waqa, who had come to Hong Kong for the first time.

“It’s been a good experience so far – I like it and will be back next year, hopefully,” the 45-year-old said.
