Introduction

Apparently there was a storm kicking around out there somewhere, not that you’d have known it here at Ocean Park, where the movers and shakers from the worlds of sport, business and politics gathered to discuss Hong Kong’s future as Asia’s events capital.

Representatives from Formula One, LIV Golf, Hong Kong rugby and the Jockey Club were all on hand at the Sports Economy and Tourism Summit to thrash out ideas on how the city can harness global trends to map out a road to making it the place for signature occasions.

With Kai Tak Sports Park expected to come online later this year, and a host of world-class competitions already on the books, the summit looked at how Hong Kong can build on an already solid foundation.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po closed the event with the keynote address.
