Asian Track Cycling Championships: Hong Kong coach Dagorne targets full-time role, says Lee is city’s main Olympics hope
- The continental competition begins in Delhi on Wednesday, with Herve Dagorne throwing support behind Ceci Lee’s Paris Games bid

While Herve Dagorne continues to ushering in a “new era” for Hong Kong at the Asian Track Cycling Championships this week, the Frenchman also has his eyes on another target.
As head coach of the French track team, Dagorne oversaw London 2012 Olympic medal success, and he wants to bring some of that Games magic to a city he has called home for the past five years.
Named acting head coach after the retirement of Shen Jinkang at the end of last year, the 57-year-old, who arrived in Hong Kong in 2018 after three years in Kazakhstan, wants the job on a full-time basis.
“It would be frustrating to not fully complete the job,” Dagorne said. “We have amazing resources, and the scientific centre at Hong Kong Sports Institute, I think, is among the top-five in the world.
“I feel I am representing my place, I missed that in Kazakhstan. When I arrive in Hong Kong, after a long trip, I say, ‘I am finally home’.
“My friends, locals and expats, support the team. I am so proud to be involved, and to try to help Hong Kong athletes progress and gain medals, and I want to continue this way.”
