It rained plenty, but not on Kitchee’s parade as they added the FA Cup to their haul to complete the treble at Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday.
A trickle of goals that enlivened this Cup final before the interval became a torrent after it, Kitchee reasserting their domestic supremacy in a 7-1 rout. It came a week after they held off Lee Man to lift the Premier League title, having already won the Senior Shield in January.
Charlie Scott’s opener for Kitchee on the half-hour was followed by a second through Cleiton, and although Park Jong-bum pulled a goal back, Max Poon Pui-hin’s third for the champions before half-time dampened the hopes of his father Johnny, the Rangers head coach.
In the second half, deflected strikes by Mikael Burkatt and Scott floored Rangers even before two more by Cleiton rubbed their noses in it.

They had made the early running. Ghanaian forward Yakubu Nassam Ibrahim’s pursuit of a through-ball saw him clash with the leaping Kitchee goalkeeper Paulo Da Silva, who was flattened. In committed mood, Ibrahim hared to the touchline to prevent Roberto Affonso Junior launching an attack, ending up in the treble-chasers’ dugout.
