- Grace Lau, Tsang Yee-ting, and women’s kata team seal podium finishes after taxing Covid-hit season
- World women’s kata No 5 and Tokyo 2020 medallist Lau to take much-needed break after training non-stop since April

Hong Kong came away with three bronze medals at the WKF Asian Karate Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan this week, lining up a steady trajectory to next year’s Asian Games.
The women’s kata team – composed of Lulu Wu Lok-man, Karman Ma Ka-man and Wong Sze-man – made it three bronzes in two days after exceeding expectations on Wednesday.
Lau, who won one championship bronze in 2018 and two silvers in 2015 and 2019, said she was finally getting some time off after training non-stop since April.
“I didn’t even get time to celebrate my birthday because I had to prepare for this competition,” the world-ranked No 5 Lau wrote on Instagram.
“OK! My first break of 2021 begins. Right. Now. I’m on holiday starting today! Woohoo!!!! Wishing everyone a happy winter solstice.”
