Briton Laura Trott still hungry for more gold as she gears up for Hong Kong leg of UCI World Cup

Endurance rider is gunning for glory in lead up to Rio Games, while compatriot Mark Cavendish is also eager to qualify

Endurance rider Laura Trott is still hungry for more glory after a successful career with two Olympic gold medals and five World Championship golds.

The 23-year-old Briton is one of the key attractions at the Hong Kong leg of the UCI World Cup, which kicks off on Friday, along with her men’s counterpart Mark Cavendish, who has won 26 stages of the Tour de France.

Trott won the inaugural omnium event at the London Olympics four years ago and was a key member of the pursuit team who took gold in front of their home crowd at the London Velopark.

She started her first practice session in the Hong Kong Velodrome at Tseung Kwan O yesterday.

Despite still suffering from a bit of jet lag after arriving in the city on Monday, she was delighted with the opportunity to test the venue out ahead of racing against some of the best riders in the final round of the World Cup season.

“I want to win and just love winning,” said Trott after a morning practice session. “I guess it’s that feeling that keeps me going and I don’t want to stop, too. I will keep going until I win more and more.”
