A brilliant birdie on the last secured Isaac Lam a two-shot victory at the inaugural Fanling Classic on Sunday.
Despite considerable pressure from China Tour points list leader Zizhao Jin, the 26-year-old Hongkonger held his nerve superbly to fire a final-round 65 over the Old Course at Hong Kong Golf Club to claim his second China Tour title by two shots on 17-under-par.
Tied for the lead heading down the 72nd hole, Lam holed a 12-footer for birdie, while Jin could only bogey after coming up short with his approach.
Jin finished second on 15 under, while Bowen Chai claimed third spot on 12 under.
Hong Kong’s Jason Hak, who will represent the city at next month’s Asian Games, finished in a tie for fifth on seven under, alongside compatriot Jeffrey Shen who was awarded the top amateur prize.

“I’m very happy to come out on top,” Lam, who heads to the Japan Tour Q-School next week, said. “I gave up my lead after nine holes but I was still cracking jokes with my caddie. It’s a great stepping stone to win again on the China Tour.”
Lam is good friends with two-time Asian Tour champion Taichi Kho and said he was “100 per cent” motivated by his fellow countryman’s success.
“There’s a quote my coach uses – ‘if he can do it, so can I’,” Lam said. “So I guess within our community I’d like to be pushed, and to push others. I think that’s what golf is about. It’s not just about your own successes but having successes around you. It really helps your career as well.”
