Patrick Reed shoots ‘stress-free’ round to take early lead at International Series Macau
On a day of good scoring, American overcomes morning tightness to take one-shot lead at Macau Golf and Country Club

Patrick Reed started Thursday not “feeling that great” and finished it with a bogey-free seven-under-par 63 to take an early lead at the International Series Macau.
The American’s “stress-free” round left him a shot ahead of Miguel Tabuena, Peter Uihlein and Kalle Samooja.
On a good scoring day, Sergio Garcia carded a 65 to sit among a group of seven players at five under, and just three shots separated the top 19 on the leaderboard at Macau Golf and Country Club.
Reed said he had been tight when he woke up and was initially focused on hitting the fairways and going from there. But he birdied the par-three fourth and was four under by the time he reached the turn.
“I got off to good a start, was hitting my golf ball how I wanted to,” Reed said. “I was kind of getting it out in front of me where I wanted, where I was looking, and I was leaving myself in the right spot. So I felt like that was the biggest thing today.”

The back nine proved trickier, but he made the most of the par-fives at 13 and 18, added a birdie on 16 and was happy with his round overall.
