Japan eased into the quarter-finals of the Women’s Asian Cup on Tuesday with an emphatic 4-0 win over Vietnam, while Taiwan beat India 3-1 to set up a last-eight clash with defending champions China.

West Ham striker Riko Ueki headed home in the 21st minute before Japan ran riot in the second half in Perth.

Tottenham forward Maika Hamano finished off a slick passing move before Aoba Fujino and substitute Kiko Seike put Japan four up with more than 20 minutes still to go.

The two-time former champions will face the Philippines in their quarter-final in Sydney after topping Group C with three wins and 17 goals without reply.

Led by their first foreign-born women’s coach, Greenlander Nils Nielsen, Japan are hoping to add to their back-to-back triumphs in 2014 and 2018.
