Hong Kong footballers to share HK$1 million prize if they beat Singapore
Squad members must play on Tuesday to get a share of the US$129,000, which FA’s CEO Charles Cheung calls ‘a reward and encouragement’

Hong Kong’s footballers and coaches have been promised a HK$1 million (US$129,000) bounty if they overcome Singapore at Kai Tak Stadium next Tuesday.
Victory would book the city’s team a spot at the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, while defeat would end their qualification hopes.
The prize pot would be shared only by those who are involved against Singapore, meaning some players who featured in four earlier qualifiers would not get their hands on the cash.
“We would like to show HKFA’s appreciation to all the players – if they play in that match, they get the bonus,” said Charles Cheung Yim-yau, general secretary of the Football Association of Hong Kong, China.
“It will be for the coaching staff, too. The effort belongs to the whole team.”

Hong Kong reached the most recent Asian Cup finals, staged in Qatar in 2023, to end a 55-year wait to qualify for a major tournament.
