There is dreaming big and then there is just dreaming, and Omar Berrada, the Manchester United CEO, seems to sit firmly in the latter category.
After a season in which the men finished 15th in the Premier League and the women third in the Super League, some 16 points behind champions Chelsea, Berrada told club fanzine United We Stand he believed they could both win their respective titles in 2028.
“Can the team win the Premier League title by 2028? Of course,” Berrada said. “We’ve just finished 15th and it seems an impossible task. But why not aim for it? Why not do everything in our power?”
Sounds wildly optimistic to us. But it did get the sports desk wondering which other bad sides might have a better chance at success than the Premier League strugglers by 2028.

While the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers battle it out in the NBA Finals, fans in Salt Lake City spent another year watching one of the worst teams in the league.
The Jazz managed to win just 17 games across the 82-game season and have never won a championship. Their last taste of success was a division title in 2022.
Online fan forums are flooded with messages either in defence of coach Will Hardy as he manages what some called their “worst roster ever”, or calls for his head. Sound familiar?
But they are projected to take the highly rated VJ Edgecombe in this month’s draft, and that could be the start of something.

But following a recent takeover by Red Bull, the club can start looking upwards – and a Premiership Rugby title by 2028 is not as crazy as it once seemed.
Red Bull have proven their ability to innovate with success in Formula 1 and an impressive portfolio of football clubs.
If the Falcons want to know how to outdo United, they could always give Red Bull head of global football Jurgen Klopp a call.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The NFL franchise suffered a disastrous 2024 campaign, finishing with a 5-12 record.
Like United, they endured a historically bad campaign. It was bleak – but sometimes things have to bottom out before they turn.
Unfortunately for the Jags, they have seemingly been bottoming out for a while. Still, only formed in 1995 they don’t have the weight of history on their shoulders.
And the addition of two-way star Travis Hunter, second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, is giving fans hope that a first Super Bowl is within reach.

Another failure this year would mark 17 years without a Constructors' Championship for the Italian outfit.
The arrival of Lewis Hamilton to drive alongside Charles Leclerc was supposed to improve their fortunes. But it’s just not coming together.
