Hong Kong Football Club took an English Premier League scalp at the HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens as they dramatically toppled Leicester City on a perfect Saturday for the tournament hosts.
A Jonas Sorensen strike with the last kick of the game stunned the visitors.
“It was a great feeling to score against a big club with good players and a huge history,” Sorensen said.
There was double joy for Football Club as they then inflicted a 1-0 defeat on AZ Alkmaar, who recently lost only narrowly to Barcelona in the Uefa Youth League semi-finals.

Football Club wrapped up their flawless group stage when they beat Hong Kong under-22s 3-1 to book a quarter-final date with West Ham United on Sunday.
“It’s another big team – we’re looking forward to it,” Sorensen said. “The support has been amazing, we’ve done really well so far and we want to keep it going.”
After a goalless draw against Singapore Cricket Club in their opening game, West Ham beat BC Rangers 4-1 and drew 1-1 with Larne, who progressed to a last-eight meeting with Alkmaar.

In the women’s tournament, Kitchee and Wrexham played out a 0-0 draw in which neither team threatened to score, meaning both progressed to the cup final.
Kitchee went into the last group match on 10 points and already guaranteed top spot after TSL drew 0-0 with Singapore side Eastern Thunder to finish on eight points.
That meant Wrexham needed only to draw to leapfrog TSL, who will meet Chonburi in Sunday’s plate final.
Ampcontrol Discovery Bay’s goalkeeper Issy Maholo was stretchered off with a neck injury during their 1-0 masters win over Yau Yee League All Stars. Officials said he was taken to hospital for treatment.
