Fantasy Premier League managers have tough decisions ahead of Friday’s Gameweek 26 deadline: captain Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) against Manchester City, or opt for out-of-form Cole Palmer (£11.1m)?

Then, of course, we have the issue of which assistant manager to select as well as tailoring transfers to Gameweek 29, when Liverpool, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace all blank.

So, after a quick Gameweek 25 recap, I will outline the best captain and assistant manager choices, top five Gameweek 26 transfers, and my team for this weekend.

What we learned

Some FPL managers have benefited from Arsenal’s recent injury problems, with Ethan Nwaneri (£4.5m) stepping up and proving more than value for money.

Just 17 years old, he scored 15 points over the past two gameweeks and is likely to remain in Mikel Arteta’s starting 11 for the next few weeks, while midfielder Mikel Merino (£6.0m) rescued the Gunners with both goals in their 2-0 win at Leicester City last weekend.

His substitute cameo was as a forward, so if he continues that form, he will be a magnet for bonus points.

And, speaking of forwards, Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush (£7.1m) appears to have found his groove with a hat-trick against Newcastle United last weekend.

An injury to Erling Haaland (£14.7m) has opened up a spot at No 9 for Pep Guardiola’s side.
