Spurs loss heaps pressure on Postecoglou, Manny Pacquiao in hall of fame, WNBA up tempo

Bournemouth beat Tottenham 1-0 in a game where they could have scored three or four, and Spurs have Chelsea on Sunday.

What odds, I wonder, could you get on Ange Postecoglou getting sacked before Julen Lopetegui. Ridiculously long, I’d imagine, but stranger things have happened.

In reality, of course, Lopetegui is a dead man walking, even if West Ham have kept him in charge for Monday’s game against Wolverhampton. Tottenham, meanwhile, lost again overnight, and the fans will blame the manager, certainly the shocking defensive issues are on him, but there could be a deeper problem.

This is a club that has had Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte all at the helm in the past five years, and still hasn’t won anything. The money men rarely get fired, but like Jerry Jones at the Dallas Cowboys, all Daniel Levy has to show for 20 years of mediocrity is a sparkly new stadium.

Things are unlikely to get better for Postecoglou this weekend. His team face a quick turnaround before hosting Chelsea on Sunday. That’s a little more than 24 hours before West Ham take the field.

Bournemouth battered Spurs 1-0 at Kings Park, with Dean Huijsen’s goal after 17 minutes enough to settle proceedings. The home side should have scored at least three more, and the away fans gave boss Ange Postecoglou some “pretty direct feedback” at the end.
