Ex-Hong Kong coach Jorn Andersen unveiled as manager at China League 1 club Yunnan Yukun

  • The Norwegian has been in China for two weeks but will be in the dugout only from Saturday, when the league leaders face Dalian Yingbo away

Former Hong Kong head coach Jorn Andersen was officially unveiled as the head coach of China League One outfit Yunnan Yukun on Wednesday.

The club, who top the 16-team league with 30 points from 13 games, welcomed the Norwegian tactician on their official Weibo.

In an official statement, the club praised Andersen for his extensive coaching experience across Europe and Asia, and lauded his understanding of football in China and Asia.

“Andersen has excellent leadership skill and is good at building a unified team,” the statement read. “He also has considerable experience in promoting and training young players.

“We firmly believe Andersen will lead Yunnan Yukun to new heights on the pitch and bring joy and happiness to the fans.”

Andersen, who quit Hong Kong after two-and-a-half years in a shock move last month, is expected to be in the dugout for the first time when Yunnan travel to face Dalian Yingbo on Saturday.
