Jorn Andersen watches his new Chinese League One club Yunnan Yukun after leaving Hong Kong
- Norwegian is not in dugout but is seen watching from the stands as new club face Shijiazhuang Gongfu
Former Hong Kong head coach Jorn Andersen was not in the dugout as newly promoted side Yunnan Yukun smashed Shijiazhuang Gongfu 4-1 in their China League One encounter at home on Saturday.
The Norwegian, who was photographed watching from the stands, posted a post-match photo on X (formerly known as Twitter), showing him celebrating the victory with his new team inside the dressing room.
Andersen was reportedly set to take charge of his first Yunnan game against Shijiazhuang after quitting Hong Kong in a shock move last month. The 61-year-old was not at the prematch press conference on Friday, however, with club chairman Guo Guangqi in his place.
Guo was again in the dugout, for the third straight match, and the acting head coach extended his unbeaten streak to three games, having enjoyed two wins and one draw since taking over after former boss Li Jinyu quit.
“I am dedicating this tough and exciting match to our fans,” he said. “The team endured one incident after another but it didn’t affect the overall training and match performance.
“A big thank you to our players, because they put in a lot of effort, they tried their best to win this game under such circumstances, which laid a solid foundation for us to move forward.”
Two goals from Nyasha Mushekwi inside the opening 30 minutes gave the hosts a comfortable two-goal lead at halftime. The brace put the 36-year-old Zimbabwean striker level on top of the scorers’ chart with eight goals alongside Brazilian forward Giovanny, who plays for Guangxi Pingguo Haliao.
