Less than a month after announcing his retirement from the IPL, India cricket great Ravichandran Ashwin has signed up to play in this year’s Hong Kong Cricket Sixes.

The T20 competition’s fifth-highest wicket-taker and second on India’s list of Test wickets, the 38-year-old spin bowler said last month that he would still be available to play in other events around the world.

Ashwin began and ended his IPL career with his home team, Chennai Super Kings, and also represented Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab in between.

In announcing his retirement in a social media post, he said that while his time in the IPL was coming to an end, “my time as an explorer of the game around various leagues begins today”.

“Look forward to enjoying and making the most of what’s ahead of me,” he added.

Now it appears as though his first experience of that could be at Mission Road in November, with Cricket Hong Kong, China officials announcing the move on Thursday.
