Rain delays semi-finals in ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup, organisers will try again on Tuesday
- Officials forced to cancel matches for fifth day in a row after almost a week of heavy rain in Hong Kong
- India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh A teams all vying to make final, which is scheduled for Wednesday
The rain again ruined any hope of play in the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup on Monday, washing out matches for the fifth day in a row.
India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh A teams must wait until Tuesday to fight it out for a spot in the final, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday afternoon.
However, with showers and thunderstorms again forecast for the next couple of days in Hong Kong there is a strong possibility the tournament could be rained out entirely.
In the event Tuesday’s matches are called off, India and Bangladesh would progress to the final by virtue of finishing top of Group A and B respectively.
Only 10 overs have been possible at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground since last Wednesday, and only two sides, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, got to play more than once.
Even, that game was a five-over-a-side thrash, which the UAE won by five wickets with one ball remaining.
