Hong Kong to host T20 tournament, will play Malaysia, Bahrain, Kuwait as part of ACC Premier Cup preparations
- Quadrangular series to be held at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground from March 8 to 12
- After months of competing in events overseas last year, some players will represent Hong Kong on home soil for the first time

International cricket will return to Hong Kong for the first time in four years next month, when the city’s men take on Malaysia, Bahrain and Kuwait in a series of T20 matches.
The quadrangular tournament at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground will form part of the side’s preparations for the ACC Premier Cup in Nepal in April.
Hong Kong, who have yet to name a coach to replace Trent Johnston, are also expected to play several ODI’s before heading to the cup competition at the end of next month, where they have been grouped with Malaysia, as well as Singapore and Oman.
While the squad spent several months last year competing overseas in the ICC World Cricket League, T20 World Cup qualifiers and Asia Cup, for many this will be the first time they have represented the side on home soil.
“It is great to be able to play at home in front of our fans after all this time” Nizakat Khan, the Hong Kong captain, said. “Many of the youngsters have not had a chance to represent Hong Kong in Hong Kong, so we are excited at this opportunity and looking forward to the games.”

And although Hong Kong’s domestic season is already up and running, the team’s game against Bahrain on March 8 will be the first T20I the side has played since the Asia Cup clashes with India and Pakistan in September.
