Details of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Marathon, a test event for this year’s National Games, were released on Thursday evening, revealing that Shenzhen Bay Bridge will be closed while up to 100 runners take part in the race later this month.

The test event, which is to be organised by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, will take place on February 23, with half of the marathon’s 42.2km (26.2-mile) route being held on the Hong Kong section of the bridge.

Hong Kong is holding test events in preparation to co-host November’s Games alongside Guangdong and Macau.

Shenzhen Bay Port will be closed from 2am to 11am on the day of the test race, which starts and ends in the mainland Chinese city.

The race’s starting point and finish line will be at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre. Runners will enter Hong Kong via the Shenzhen Bay Port before passing over the Shenzhen Bay Bridge and Kong Sham Western Highway Viaduct.
