A draw will be enough to take Guangzhou Evergrande through to the last 16 of the AFC Champions League for a fourth straight season, but head coach Fabio Cannavaro is demanding victory over FC Seoul in the South Korean capital on Tuesday evening.

Guangzhou handed Choi Yong-soo’s side a 1-0 defeat on match day two in the first meeting between the teams since Evergrande defeated the Koreans on away goals in the final of the continental championship in 2013, and the Italian World Cup winner is demanding a repeat performance of the win at Tianhe Stadium.

“We know that one point will see us progress, but we have not come here to draw,” said Cannavaro. “We aim to take all three points.”

Evergrande will be without Huang Bowen and Zou Zheng, who are both suspended, while Brazilian striker Alan remains a long-term casualty after suffering a serious knee injury last month.

FC Seoul go into the game off the back of a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Suwon Bluewings in domestic action and former World Cup star Cha Du-ri – who recently announced his retirement from the international arena – is out due to injury.

“We don’t care about the 5-1 defeat,” said Cannavaro of the reversal against Suwon. “Seoul are a good team that have lots of experience in this tournament and they are well-motivated to win. We know it will not be easy but we are ready for the game.”
