Tokyo 2020: Rex Tso not ruling himself out of Paris Olympics – ‘I’ll give it a go if I’m healthy’

Boxer Rex Tso Sing-yu says he’s not ruling himself out of another bid to make the Olympics, saying the 2024 Paris Games could be his swansong if he maintains his condition and stays healthy.

The 33-year-old has already given up hopes of making it to Tokyo this summer after the world governing body called off the final world qualifier – which was supposed to take place in Paris in June – because of health and safety of athletes during the pandemic and allocated all the remaining 53 quota places equally as per ranking per category.

With limited competition appearances since reverting to amateur boxing from his glorious professional days in late 2018, Tso’s Tokyo hopes have been dashed since his ranking is not good enough.
