Boxing legend Mike Tyson has been offered a minimum of US$1 million (HK$7.75 million) to come out of his 15-year retirement with former All Blacks star Sonny Bill Williams rumoured as an opponent, according to reports.

The 53-year-old (professional boxing record 50-6), said he was interested in competing in a charity exhibition bout after new training footage went viral on social media. Tyson, who last fought in 2005, has been training with MMA coach Rafael Cordeiro.

Boxing promoter Brian Amatruda is one of the first to offer the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world a fight – telling the Daily Mail that Williams, retired AFL forward Barry Hall and former rugby league player Paul Gallen would be more than interested.

The 34-year-old Williams had a brief professional boxing career between 2009 and 2015, earning the New Zealand heavyweight title before returning to rugby. He plays for Canadian rugby league side Toronto Wolfpack in the Betfred Super League.

“[Tyson] might be 53 years old but he’s still a huge name and any of those blokes, Hall, Gallen or [Williams] would jump at the chance to get into the ring with him,” Amatruda said.
