Young basketball players from a Hong Kong secondary school will compete against the very best in the region when the NBA Rising Stars Invitational returns to Singapore in June.
The as-yet unnamed local school will be chosen based on its strong basketball credentials and results.
The tournament will feature 12 boys’ and 12 girls’ high-school teams aged 18 or under from across Asia-Pacific.
NBA champion Jeremy Lin will headline the summer event and interact with the participants throughout the week, while two-time Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) champion Lauren Jackson is set to return after making an appearance last year.
More current and former NBA players will be announced at a later date.
Arguably the most recognisable Asian face in the NBA after the legendary Yao Ming, Lin, who won the championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, said he was excited to be part of the event.

“There is so much young talent across Asia-Pacific, and I’m proud to be part of an event that shines a spotlight on some of the region’s top prospects,” the 37-year-old Lin said.
“Helping shape the next generation is a cause I’m deeply committed to, and I hope my journey encourages these rising stars to make the most of this opportunity and ultimately contribute to greater Asian representation at the highest levels of the game.”
Australian legend Jackson was looking forward to returning and seeing the high level of talent at the event.
“Last year’s NBA Rising Stars Invitational was a remarkable showcase of talent and determination, and I witnessed first-hand how much the stage and experience meant to the players,” Jackson said. “I look forward to returning to Singapore this June and helping these amazing athletes continue their development.”


Last June, a total of 24 youth teams from 11 countries across the region participated in the inaugural edition, with Yongsan High School from South Korea and Japan’s Kyoto Seika winning the boys’ and girls’ events, respectively.
Local qualifying tournaments were held in Bangkok, Melbourne, Taipei and Tokyo earlier this year, and a team from Hong Kong will participate for the first time.
As the host city, Singapore will field two teams in each boys’ and girls’ division. All participating teams will compete in a round-robin tournament before advancing to the single-elimination stage.
Held in collaboration with Sport Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board, the league’s high-school basketball tournament will run at OCBC Arena from June 22 to 28.
