David Muoka’s time as a Brooklyn Nets player has lasted just 24 hours, with the NBA side waiving the Hongkonger on Tuesday in New York.

The news may have come as something of a surprise to the 24-year-old, who on Wednesday morning was in Hong Kong getting ready to travel to the US next week.

“I’m feeling great about the opportunity and ready to make the most of it,” he told the Post in a text message, having signed a contract with the Nets on Monday, US time.

But according to the New York Post, waiving the 6ft 10in Muoka created the roster space to complete a trade for guard Kobe Bufkin.

Muoka had previously signed with the Portland Trail Blazers last October, becoming the first Hongkonger to land an NBA deal, before being waived the same day.
