American former basketball player Stephon Marbury said on Sunday that he had filed reports to police in Hong Kong and mainland China over claims made about him on Chinese social media.

Ex-NBA star Marbury, who is a Hong Kong resident through the city’s Top Talent Pass Scheme, released a statement after accusations were posted on Douyin, the Chinese sister app of TikTok.

The Douyin account, which had about 15,400 followers as of Sunday, purportedly belonged to a man named Andy, who claimed to be Marbury’s personal assistant for several years from 2014.

After vowing to expose things that “would shock all fans and be the biggest scandal in sports history”, the account published a string of claims late on Saturday, also mentioning Chinese swimmer Sun Yang.
