Chelsea defender Veiga joins Juventus, Butler benched indefinitely, Burnley hold Leeds
Miami Heat suspend NBA veteran Jimmy Butler without pay, while Juventus hand over US$4.19 million to take Chelsea player on loan
The Miami Heat have suspended Jimmy Butler “indefinitely” after the disgruntled forward walked out of a practice session, reportedly when he was told he would be coming off the bench for the NBA team.
In a statement on X, the Heat said the 35-year-old would miss “no fewer than five games” and would not be paid during that time.
“The suspension is due to a continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services,” the club said. “This includes walking out of practice earlier today.”
Butler has been angling for a trade and the Heat initially said they would “listen to offers” from other teams for the six-time All-Star, but the suspension announced on Monday would run through the NBA’s mid-season trade deadline on February 6.
Veiga makes Serie A switch
Juventus have signed Chelsea defender Renato Veiga on a loan deal worth at least €4 million (US$4.19 million).
