NBA superstar Stephen Curry signs US$63m extension with Warriors for 2026-27 season
Curry, who is entering his 16th NBA season, all of them with the Warriors, joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant in NBA’s US$500m club

Stephen Curry has signed a one-year extension with the Golden State Warriors for the 2026-27 season, one in which the NBA’s all-time three-point leader and Olympic gold medallist will earn almost US$63 million.
Curry is now guaranteed about US$178 million for the next three seasons; about US$55.8 million for this season, about US$59.6 million for 2025-26 and now about US$62.6 million – the most the Warriors could offer by league rules – for 2026-27.
When that season ends, Curry’s on-court earnings will have reached about US$532 million, which for now ranks as second-most in NBA history behind only LeBron James’ US$580 million in player contracts.
Underscoring the continuously escalating NBA salaries, only two retired players have exceeded even US$300 million in salaries: Kevin Garnett (US$343,872,398) and Kobe Bryant (US$328,238,062).

Salaries is the key word because James, Curry and Kevin Durant – the other player who will have earned more than US$500 million by the time he retires – will have exceeded US$1 billion when endorsements are included in their overall earnings.
