How cutting-edge postgraduate law courses at Hong Kong’s top universities are shaping the future of legal education
These advanced courses, spanning arbitration, dispute resolution, Chinese business law and more, prepare students for success in a globalised legal landscape

Hong Kong’s aim over the next few years is to be a leading international hub for both further education and legal services – and local universities offering postgraduate law programmes are ready to deliver on both fronts.
A range of high-quality courses are available in the city, paving the way for careers in different branches of the legal profession and providing the in-depth knowledge and practical skills needed to handle the most complex of cases.
For instance, the Master of Laws in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (LLMArbDR) offered by City University of Hong Kong’s School of Law (CityU Law) aims to develop both domestic and international expertise and foster original research.
It acquaints students with various kinds of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), enabling them to participate effectively in cases as a party, advocate, expert, or as arbitrator and mediator. They also learn the practicalities of the process when dealing with executives or others with existing expertise in a broad spectrum of professional, industrial and commercial activities.

“The programme offers academic and practical training in dispute resolution, as well as mediation, adjudication and negotiation,” says Professor Christopher To, programme director of the LLMArbDR. “It inspires leadership in these areas and is taught by highly-qualified and experienced professionals.”
