[First published on Mar 09, 1986] High school students at the Hong Kong International School revealed their hidden talents recently at a Gong Show which they organized in their school chapel.
“Actually this is a comedy talent show,” said Adam Levowitz, organizer of the show.
“This is something new and exciting. Before, we usually staged shows at a more serious level, but this time we intended to give ourselves a whole evening of joy and fun.
“Another purpose of the show was to raise money for the junior and senior prom,” he added.
Three teachers were invited to be adjudicator during the show and were given the right to strike the gongs whenever they disliked any of the acts. This happened seven times that evening. By Theresa Li
Despite that, the audience thoroughly enjoyed the 20 act show especially the one put on by the school’s principal, Mr Arnie Holtberg, who sang Beauty School Dropout, a song from the popular musical film Grease.
