[SCMP Archive] Worried about acid rain

[First published on Dec 2, 1992] I and my fellow students at Hong Kong International School, feel that acid rain is a serious problem in Hong Kong.

Most of our acid rain is caused by pollution in Hong Kong. Transportation here is a major cause.

There are too many cars. I think people should take buses more often or carpool.

If more newspaper articles were written explaining the problem of acid rain, maybe more people would understand.

Perhaps because the Governor is new here, he is unaware that acid rain falls on us whenever it rains. I know we cannot stop it, but we can reduce it.

Factories in Hong Kong emit too many gases and this causes various forms of pollution including acid rain.
