Hioki charges ahead with high-quality electrical measuring instruments
Japanese company invests significantly in R&D initiatives, resulting in dozens of new products being released annually
Although electricity revolutionised industrialisation in leaps and bounds, there are many associated risks that need to be managed. Hioki has made it its business to equip electricians and engineers with reliable high-quality electrical measuring instruments to help them accurately gauge the functions of various machinery. In doing so, Hioki plays an important role in guaranteeing worker safety and business continuity.
“Respect for humanity and contribution to society are two of Hioki’s philosophies. Our products reflect the two. Through our instruments, we want to help build communities characterised by happiness and peace of mind,” says Dr Masanobu Machida, president and CEO.
For 80 years, Hioki has developed and manufactured electrical measuring instruments under four product groups: automatic test and data recording equipment, and electronic measuring and field measuring instruments. Hioki’s products are used in a wide field of applications across industries, which include electronic components, automotive and renewable energy.
With industry demand rapidly changing over time, Hioki collaborates closely with customers and universities in research and development (R&D) to ensure the company delivers timely and relevant solutions.
Hioki invests about 10 per cent of revenues in R&D initiatives, resulting in multiple product releases annually. The company released 29 new products in 2014 and 36 last year.
