Leaning into founder Natalie Ngan’s background, this understated eatery recently changed tack from elevated dai pai dong to American-inflected Chinese. Big flavours abound in dishes such as Sichuan pepper beef tartare, “Dao C Lang Yu” Caesar salad, and possibly the best fried squab in all of Hong Kong Island.

On October 31, Pier 1929 will transform into Hotel Revelateur, inviting Hong Kong’s ghosts and ghouls to check in from 9pm to 6am. Hosted by Spin Sum Entertainment, this immersive Halloween party boasts two wings: the Drawing Room, wrapped in soft pastels and faux furs, and the Main Lounge for leather and lace affairs, each featuring its own bar. DJs Axel Boman and Ouissam will craft the soundtrack for a night where self-expression is the only dress code.
