The official US presidential and vice-presidential portraits of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance were released on Thursday, just days ahead of their inauguration.

Trump’s portrait bears a notable resemblance to his mugshot from August 2023 at Fulton County Jail in Georgia, with the US president-elect glaring at the camera.

Vance, meanwhile, appears to have a small smile on his face while his arms are crossed. Both men are pictured wearing dark blue suits and blue ties.

“In just four days, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States and J.D. Vance as the 50th Vice-President of the United States – and their official portraits are here,” Trump’s transition team wrote in a press release.

The new photo is notably different from Trump’s portrait from his first term, where he was pictured with a wide smile.

The official portraits of Trump and then-Vice-President Mike Pence were not released until October 2017, nine months after they were inaugurated. Any reason for the delay was never provided by the White House.
