Superstar Dolly Parton says secret song buried at Dollywood theme park can’t be dug up until she’s 99

- ‘I don’t know whose damn idea that was [but] I wanna dig that up so bad because it’s a really good song’, she said
Veteran entertainer Dolly Parton has a fantastic new song. But, you’ll have to wait 23 years to hear it.
During a recent appearance on US daytime television chat programme The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer and actor revealed she wrote a top-secret song that’s currently buried in a time capsule.
“That has (driven) me crazy,” Parton said. “I have written a song that nobody’s going to hear until I’m 99 years old. I might be there, I might not be.”
The track was written for the 2015 opening of Parton’s Dollywood DreamMore resort, an adjacent hotel to her long-standing Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The country legend says she placed the song in a box along with a CD player and cassette player, but the box won’t be reopened until 2045, when the resort celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Parton, now 76, will be 99 when the time comes. She worries the music will “rot” in the capsule before it gets opened.
“I don’t know whose damn idea that was,” Parton said. “They weren’t expecting me to be there at all and I probably won’t be. I might be there, who knows. I figure it’ll probably disintegrate and nobody will ever hear it.”
Adding to her frustration: She really likes the mystery tune.
